I have just spent three days at a fascinating conference on biolinguistics, as the field now describes itself. There were 18 presentations, two on speech pathology, my own and one other. The event closed with a one hour session with Noam Chomsky who gave an account of how the field had developed since his days of student discussions in the late 1940s.
