Common worries

About a child’s speech and/or language

You may be worried about your child

  • Stammering
  • Sounding hoarse
  • Using only one word
  • Talking, but incomprehensibly
  • Being late in relation to a developmental milestone
  • Not putting words together in the usual way
  • Not putting sounds together the correct way
  • Having difficulty with one or more particular sounds
  • Missing out the little words like a and the
  • Learning to read or write

Some of these worries relate to a recognised area of linguistics. I treat all of them – focusing on those areas where I have the most relevant expertise – disorders particular to language and to speech.
